“What is it?”
Amniotic tissue, which refers to human placenta, has been studied since the early 1900’s and has been proven to significantly and positively impact wound care and surgical repairs. The amniotic product that we use, AmnioFix®, is part of a family of patented products known as dHACM, which stands for dehydrated Human Amnion Chorion Membrane. The amnion and chorion are the two most important layers that make up the placental sac, which protects and aids in the development of the baby during pregnancy. These layers contain hundreds of growth factors, cytokines and chemokines which offer a wide range of functions when deposited into an area of the body which requires repair. AmnioFix® comes from healthy and safely donated placentas. The recovery process occurs only after the consenting mother delivers a healthy baby, via scheduled Caesarian section, and therefore the safety of the baby and the delivery process are not impacted.
What does it do?
AmnioFix® has been used for over a decade in wound care and in surgery to modulate inflammation, reduce scar tissue, build healthy new tissue, cause new blood vessel formation and reduce risk of infection. AmnioFix® is regulated by the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is the only amniotic product with a United States Pharmacopeia monograph which regulates purity and potency.
How does it work?
AmnioFix® comes as a powder, which when rehydrated with a sterile saline solution, can be injected into the scalp to revitalize the dying follicular cells to grow thicker, stronger hair and in many cases, recruit new cells to grow new hair as well. The needle used to inject is very fine and may cause only a very small amount of discomfort. The procedure does not take long at all. Initial results can be seen between 4-6 weeks and will continue up to 6 months after the first treatment.
AmnioFix can also be used to reduce pain, redness and swelling caused by an ablative laser treatment. “
